M’sia Port klang safety training
As some of u might ve know, I will be going to work at star cruise for a long five mths. Not sure when will it be starting though cos it seem that the company is quite inefficient in confirming the details of all the things necessary. But well, we’ve went for the safety training at Port Klang, a place near to KL where we learn things like fire safety, water safety n first aid before we go on board.
For every first half of the day was abt theory where we were taught using the computer. We were complaining why the hell did we go all the way to m’sia that kind of ulu place to do that reading n quizzes. They could ve sent us an email or so to do it at hm. The three of us gers keep dozing off during the reading n classmates were thinking this muz be caused by our daily shopping aft the training. Haa. Though the place is isolated, it still managed to satisfy us with that few jusco n some shopping malls at KL. Branded stuff there r much cheaper then in Singapore. But of cos it’s nt LV n Gucci that i can afford.
We were then told on that day that we shld be able to finish the couse 1 day earlier n so we dun ve to go to sch. The first thought that came to us was that we want to head back hm earlier! We were thinking of changing the coach from sat to fri, but aft discussing with the trainer, he said we should look at the weather for the next day fire training before we decide on it.
2nd day we did the fire safety training. We tried on the fire extinguisher to put off fire. Then aft that, me n Clare was asked to demonstrate first aid by carrying “Mr Jone” off the scene while others put of the fire using the water hose. The two of us got all wet cos all of them were using the fire hose to aim at us aft putting off the fire beside the “victim”. Gosh.
3rd day we did water safety training, we did it at a swimming pool where we were asked to jump down from boards of as high as 5m (abt one n a half storey). It takes alot of courage to jump down esp for the highest one. I spent quite alot of time to get ready but still din managed to jump so I asked the one behind to give me a push. I gave a loud n high scream while in the air n still i rmb to go back to the original position that we were asked to maintain during the jump. I heard I looked comical n everyone was laughing. haha. We also do things like turning over the liferaft, putting on the immersion suit that make us look like penguin. Aft which, we decided to go down to Kl to amend our coach tix. The trainer stopped us. For a mmt we feel like bashing him up aft the toil we had for those days. On the first day, he said look at the weather, for fire safety. 2nd day, he said we the swimming pool might close, 3rd day he said mayb we will be called on board the next. Like wtf?! he just dun want to go. Dots.
But then, we insisted n went down to KL to do the changes. We managed to n we were more then happy that we are able to get hm the day aft. We stayed in KL to shop for the nite. Marie was was down with fever n was veri sick. Poor her has to wait for us while we shop. The three of us took turns to be sick for the trip though mine is just some minor stomachache jnow n then.
4th day we did first aid. We learnt to bandage n do CPR. CPR was nt as easy as what we thought. 5 rounds of mouth to mouth n pumpings.
By the last day, we had alot of shopping bags with us n I generally enjoyed myself. It’s a one of a lifetime experience though i wouldn’t want to try it again. Home sweet home:)
